Quadblogging

Connecting and Sharing in a Global world

Quadblogging was initiated by David Mitchell, Deputy Headteacher of Heathfield Primary School in Bolton, UK. Since its inception in 2011, over 500,000 students from 50 countries worldwide have taken part, connecting their classrooms. Connecting students outside of their usual domain is the underlying takeaway of this phenomena. You can find out more about Quadblogging on the Edutopia post, from September 2012 or more about David Mitchell on his website Ask Sir.

We have started our own blogs in Middle School Visual Art and you can read more about the development of this project on my Entering the Blogosphere post. The students are very keen to share their art and ideas globally and to connect with other students online in order to learn and grow further. Please do visit the blogs and add some comments and questions if you have the time. Just click the image to take you straight to the sites:

Just to explain the origins of the class blog names

Each student in Middle School at UWCSEA Dover is allocated a tutor group each academic year. Each group has a tutor, whose initials form the name of the tutor group. For example, when I was a tutor, as Nicki Hambleton, my group was called 6NiH. Each year we would work on a slogan or connection with the name and mine, and one year with a particularly fun group of Grade 6s we reverted to the Knights from Nih! (Monty Python connection)

So each of the 5 classes participating in the quadblogging looked at creating a unique name (and url) for their blog that played with the name of their tutor group. It was wonderful to see and hear the creative inventiveness flow as they looked to find something both apt and catchy!

Which name do you like the most?
